Matthew Gross is the driving force behind MHG Jewelry Studio in Berkley, MI. As owner and designer Matthew manages daily operations while staying actively involved in the artistic and manufacturing process. Matthew is best known for transforming, sentimental Heirloom jewelry into stunning new designs, breathing new life into cherished pieces. His work spans intricate repairs to custom designs and redesigns, all executed through traditional or modern platforms.
Matthew’s journey in the jewelry began at age of 14 with apprenticeships across Metro Detroit, where he refined his bench jeweler skills. Over the years, he’s advanced to several prestigious titles, including Senior Designer and Chief Appraiser, working closely with clients to oversee projects from concept to completion. His keen attention to detail and ability to bring client visions to life distinguish him as a master of custom jewelry design.
Matthew’s dedication to his craft is supported by an impressive educational background. He has completed advanced studies in stone setting, diamond grading, synthetic diamonds and gemstone evaluation and grading at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), where he earned a respected Graduate Gemologist Degree. Additionally, he is a certified appraiser through the International Society of Appraisers, further solidifying his status as an expert in the field.
