MSG Member-Led Workshop:

Art Fair Boot Camp

November 23rd, 10 to 4

College for Creative Studies Metals Studio

Join us for our next member-lead workshop.  This day is going to focus on art fairs. If you have ever wanted to be in an art fair, but were a little intimidated, this is for you.  Or, if you are an art fair veteran and have information to share, this is also for you.  There will be an emphasis on how MSG runs our booths, but we will cover information that will be helpful for any other art fair.

9:30-10am - Coffee and chit chat with everyone!

10-10:30am - Pictures!

This going to focus on the do’s and don’ts of jury pictures more than the mechanics of taking the pictures.

10:30-11am - Applications

What do they really mean when they say give me a one to two sentence elevator pitch about your jewelry and what is your artist statement.

11am-12pm - Display Furniture

2 MSG members will describe their handmade display furniture (fixtures used to display earrings and necklaces).

12-1pm Lunch provided by MSG

1-1:30pm - Packing List

A checklist for what you MUST to bring to every fair (business cards!), how to transport your jewelry, and emergency preparedness.

1:30-3pm - Pricing

Different methods that people use: hourly rate, replacement cost of materials, overhead, break-even point, etc.

Right now, there are a couple of people who have agreed to make presentations on this day however, we still need additional presenters. If you have an expertise in one of these areas, please contact Tina Sayer MSGartfairs@gmail.com

Immediately following the workshop, there will be an MSG board meeting. If you were ever interested in what happens at the board meetings, please join us.
